8 Ways to Repurpose Beer Bottles
If you’re like the staff at Funky Picnic, you’ve gone through your fair share of beer in your life. Each of those empty glass bottles either ended up in the recycling or trash bin, only to be used one single time. Instead of disposing your next empty case of bottles, consider repurposing them to not only be an advocate for the environment, but to gain some practical use out of them! Whether you walk away with a new vase or some new coasters, those beer bottles will sure add a little bit of funk in your life!
Repurpose Beer Bottles
Herb Planters
What better way to add to your kitchen windowsill than some fresh herb planters (but in beer bottles!) Grab your favorite herbs you use in your meals and construct your very own hydroponic planter. YES- this really is just like those expensive self-watering planters, just in DIY form!
Goblets
Create some royal cups for your guests and transform an empty beer bottle into a beer bottle goblet. Ideal for themed parties and anyone you want to treat as royalty in your household. ( This is THE perfect project for St. Patrick’s Day if you have green bottles!)
Lights
Does your outdoor patio need new lights? Is your space not “hip” enough? Don’t fret- your empty beer bottles can be reconstructed into cozy outdoor lights to brighten up your space. Just add some holiday lights into the bottle and string them along the backyard to give that warm, inviting glow.
Coasters
Don’t forget about the bottle caps! Use a variety of your coolest bottle caps to create a one-of-a-kind coaster to use when having your next drink. Extra brownie points if you use vintage caps!
Candles
If the power goes out again in Texas this winter, you’ll sure be happy to have some of these beer bottle candles on hand! And who knows, maybe your house will smell like beer afterwards too.
Vase
Keep the bottle as is and you have yourself a new flower vase! If you want to embellish the bottle, we recommend wrapping some string or twine along it for a rustic centerpiece or even painting it to match the color scheme in your house.
Soap Dispenser
Stop buying disposable soap dispensers and invest in one you can reuse! As a beer drinker, you probably already have a liquor bottle topper. Attach that to the top of your beer bottle after adding soap and no one will ever know it held beer in its previous life.
Homebrewing
As prior homebrewers themselves, the staff of Funky Picnic understands the appeal of saving a couple extra bucks when brewing beer from home. Well good news- these bottles can be reused for your homebrewing operation! Just make sure to follow the process with the link above to ensure they are safe to use.
Summer is a lot better knowing you’re going to end the day with some beer and friends. But summer doesn’t seem so great when you’re thinking about the loads of glass bottles hogging the recycling can. So why not grab a few of those empty beer bottles and upcycle them instead? The environment (and your recycling can) will sure thank you!
